[Demo Footage #1] Talesweeper First Draft

Published on 4 November 2024 at 10:31

Hi again, it's Thierry - the company director of Platonic Dreams. I started working on Talesweeper from March 2023 - June 2024 as part of a university project. I kept a dev log of about 280 slides showcasing my progress from the beginning until my submission at the end of May - I then made a short video compiling some of the key milestones in my project.

While I am still working on the project, I thought that I would share the original showcase and dev journey videos, just to show a bit of work behind the scenes; also, if fellow creatives see this process and are inspired to make their own projects either solo or in a group. The progress that I made in this project was mostly solo - aside from the following:

- Adding Megascans assets for repeating assets (i.e. natural assets like trees, rocks, etc.),

- The 'red numbers' that I had in the second level and 'cube' Niagara Systems that I assigned to spawning enemies,

- Sound effects, which I worked on with a close contact and downloaded from online,

- My lecturer assisting me with a few blueprints, when developing the character's functionality,

Below you can find the progress that I made on Talesweeper in the first year of this project.

Looking back, I realised that I would have to revisit most of my original designs and gameplay to optimise and improve aspects of the project.

As I make updates with this project, I will release additional posts showcasing them.
